It's important in our practice that we not hide from truths that we consider to be inconvenient. Consider today how we often cling to this notion of ourselves as being represented by our physical body in the world. Next time you're driving down the road and you see a cemetery, pull the car over, take a glance, and look—not because this is bad news. This is good news.
This is good news. When we recognize the eternal cycle of being, when we see the road of the small self—the daisy fodder we cling to, fearing what lies beyond—then we can move beyond it. And we can actually begin to appreciate the moment we are in. We realize where our true immortal existence lies. Our continuance is in our actions.
We can be moved by circumstances and manifest as compassion, sending echoes throughout all space and time. But this requires us to set aside the notion of corporeal immortality and to recognize that the road does not lead where we think it does. And then we can actually begin to live.
We live by letting go. And when we live in that way, our lives become completely nourishing—not just to ourselves, but to everyone we come in contact with.
