“This is what should be done by one who is skilled in goodness, and who knows the path of peace…”
Join us for a two-week exploration of the Karaṇīya Mettā Sutta—a beloved and profound teaching from the Pali Canon that points directly to the path of boundless love, deep simplicity, and inner peace.
Together, we’ll unpack the text line by line, exploring what it means to live in a way that is “skilled in goodness,” and how the cultivation of mettā (loving-kindness) becomes not just a practice, but a way of being.
This offering includes:
Two live classes led by Sensei Michael Brunner on July 17 and 24
An online discussion board opening July 10 for shared reflection and connection
Daily prompts to help integrate the teachings into your everyday life
All are welcome—whether you’re encountering the sutta for the first time or returning with fresh eyes.
Your guide on this journey will be Sensei Michael, Abbot and Founder of One River Zen
Online discussion board opens July 10
