Fullness of Light | Weekend Meditation Retreat
July 11–13, 2025 | One River Zen Center, Ottawa, IL
At summer’s peak, when the days stretch long and the light is abundant, we gather to pause, breathe, and settle into the fullness of each moment. This weekend retreat invites us to dwell in presence—not as an escape from life, but as a return to it.
With seated meditation, walking practice, bonfire sunsets, and gentle guidance, we’ll lean into the quiet clarity that’s always available when we stop trying to shape things. Silence becomes not absence, but intimacy. Stillness becomes not inactivity, but depth.
This retreat is for anyone longing to reconnect—to body, to breath, to being itself.
No experience necessary. Just bring your willingness to be here.
Embark on a journey of inner radiance and self-discovery as you engage in silent meditation sessions, contemplative evenings by the bonfire, restorative yoga, and insightful Dharma talks. Find solace in the serene beauty of our surroundings and reconnect with your inner self.
From mats and cushions to cozy accommodations, we've got it covered, allowing you to focus solely on being present and embracing this transformative experience. Let the worries fade away as you indulge in a nurturing retreat. Beginners are perfectly welcome. Just bring yourself!
We practice in community, living dormitory-style in our beautiful meditation center, a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1890, situated on the scenic banks of the Illinois River.
Participants can immerse themselves in nature - taking a walk along the river front or even take a short ride to Starved Rock State Park.
