SHIN JIN MEI | 信心銘- DAY TWELVE

"The moment we are enlightened within,
We go beyond the voidness of a world confronting us.
"

Conventionally, we are conditioned to seek wisdom in the world around us. We are regularly encouraged to make sense of the universe by focusing outside. But there is no intrinsic wisdom there, it is void. There is a cosmic soup of concepts held together by the tenuous small self we interject into the mix. All of the constant conjectures and subsequent refutations create a turmoil that is unresolvable - because by their very nature they are an incomplete and disembodied narrative that has to be set against itself to perpetuate.

When we are enlightened within, in that moment the narrative resolves instantly. The small self working furiously to make sense of inside and outside is put to rest and we recognize the boundlessness of our true and original nature. We experience fully and directly without words or concepts. Savor it.
