SHIN JIN MEI | 信心銘- DAY NINETEEN

"The Great Way is calm and large-hearted,
For it, nothing is easy, nothing is hard;
Small views are irresolute,
The more in haste the tardier they go.
"

When we put away picking and choosing, the Great Way appears before us. There is no disturbance here, no small self to maintain. This is calmness and serenity - and compassion manifests in perfect wisdom. All we need do is surrender our discriminating mind and we naturally open to Big Mind.

By staying here in this moment, and acting skilfully with what comes up, we put away concepts of easy and hard. Just allow for what is needed in the here and now.

This is in direct contrast to the swirling vortexes of discriminating thought wrought by the small self. These small views, while spun in an effort to accomplish big things, actually pull us into the quagmire of delusion. As we struggle to maintain the illusion of the small self, we fall even deeper into its despair.
