SHIN JIN MEI | 信心銘- DAY EIGHTEEN

"In one Emptiness the two are not distinguished,
And each contains in itself all the ten thousand things:
When no discrimination is made between this and that,
How can a one-sided and prejudiced view arise?
"

How can a one-sided prejudiced view arise? When discrimination is made between this and that. From the perspective of the Absolute, each and everything contains the myriad ten thousand things - thus there is no separation as the two are not distinguished.

It is important to integrate this perspective with yesterday's vantage from the Relative. Both are in the One. Everything is interconnected and perfectly balanced, and individual actions and intentions are important. When you pull up to a stoplight and someone is in need, you cannot assuage your conscience with the argument that 'there is no self or other, therefore no scarcity'. You have to respond directly and skillfully.

This is not something that is reconciled by intellect - only by practice and direct experience does the Way appear...
