One River Zen Names Writer & Artist for Residency in Ottawa

September 25, 2025 — Shaw Local

One River Zen has announced its 2025 Writer–Artist in Residence, deepening the temple’s engagement with creativity and contemplative life in Ottawa.
The residency invites artists and writers to live and work alongside the Zen community, creating works that reflect themes of stillness, compassion, and transformation.

“Art is another language of awakening,” said Sensei Michael Brunner, abbot of One River Zen. “When we bring creativity and meditation together, something opens—a space where beauty, truth, and mindfulness meet.”

The residency culminates in a public presentation and community conversation held at One River Zen’s temple on Prospect Avenue.
This program, now an annual tradition, continues the Center’s effort to bridge spiritual practice and the creative arts as a living expression of Zen in everyday life.
