One River Zen Adds Micro Pantry to Help Those in Need
October 2, 2024 — Shaw Local
When someone arrived at One River Zen’s doorstep hungry, the sangha responded with compassion.
That moment inspired the creation of a new Micro Pantry, providing 24-hour access to food and household staples for anyone in need.
“Someone showed up on our doorstep hungry,” said Sensei Michael Brunner, founder and abbot of One River Zen. “We realized we’d have to do more — that Zen practice isn’t complete until it meets the world with open hands.”
The Micro Pantry joins One River Zen’s growing community outreach, including the Karuna Food Pantry and local service projects rooted in mindful presence and care.
Located at 121 E Prospect Avenue, the pantry is restocked regularly by volunteers and supported by donations from the wider Ottawa community.
